"A ROOM WITH A VIEW"
in support of Mental Health Week 2020
This year’s Mental Health Week theme is Strengthening Our Community – Live, Learn, Work, Play. At the House we aim to increase mental wellbeing in our local community. Nova Art provides a space for people to come together and be creative.

Art during COVID
“Art has set my mind free from the confines of the ordinary but familiar walls of people and house into a grand and endless landscape of anything goes. Wildness engaged me, new techniques took me in new directions and my wellbeing certainly improved each time I sat down and began to paint, draw or paste. I am so grateful for this gift.”
Fiona Shanahan Sep 2020
“Words are limited and making art is a survival mechanism. It has given me an outlet, identity and structure to take my mind off my problems and a way of diverting from Covid.”
Jennifer Keating Sep 2020
“Nova Art gives me a creative outlet and I don’t know what I would do otherwise. It’s very hard for one person and this is a group that is organised which makes it easier. Creativity gives you a purpose.”
Robert Rosmarin Sep 2020

Poem about a forest
Leafy green forest
Raining upon the tree
A ladybird crawls along a twig Walking up to a clearing
I see an archway up ahead
An art easel beckons to me
to say “come and paint”
At the window sill, dear child, express the colours you can see!
Jennifer Keating, September 2020

A Room With a View
My mind wanders far and uncontained
Freedom of heart is my name
Gazing at the rough beauty of a tree
Unfilled branches waiting for me
A wild hedge points it's sprout
A garden filled with freesias shout
Singing the tune of my Soul
Birds choiring, drinking water from a bowl
Silence and inner debris mingle
My mind swarms and my heart tingles
My outside fills my inside
My inside needs my outside
What is it that I seek
Strength for the weary and hope for the weak.
